Thanksgiving is a holiday that all should take part of and is a holiday of thanks. The holiday was created when the First Thanksgiving was celebrated on October 1621 by Pilgrims. Usually there’s a big feast that families would make for each other, there would usually be traditional foods like turkey, mash potatoes, green beans, macaroni and cheese, and many more foods you might eat on Thanksgiving. Other people might just eat whatever their cultures eat but to eat with family and have a whole feast. Thanksgiving is a day to be thankful and to appreciate what you have.

Halloween is a spooky day that usually happens only once a year such as any holiday. There’s always monsters or a type of scary being involved with Halloween, just like witches, skeletons, ghost, zombies, etc. These types of monsters could also be a type of being that someone might dress-up as.
It’s not a holiday in which you don’t get breaks, such as Valentine’s Day, where not all people have to celebrate. On Halloween, people go around and ask trick-or-treat, once asking for a trick-or-treat there’s usually candy that is given out. They also go around dressing as a type of character, or just anything you would like to dress up as on this day. Some Halloween activities that you could do during Halloween is watch Halloween movies or scary movies, go trick-or-treating, go to a haunted house, an amusement park, or anything you might have to finish or work on. Some school sports that are happening right now are boys and girls basketball and girls soccer. The girls soccer team hasn’t played a game yet, but their first game is around the start of November. As sports continue there are only two sports that are going to be happening; volleyball and track.
The sports that happened over the start of the school year were girls softball, boys baseball, and boys soccer. The girls were able to to make it to the semifinals, but lost to Presidio. They’ve had five wins and four defeats. For the boys soccer team they were also able to make it to the semifinals, but lost to Denman. In boys soccer, they’ve received six wins and they’ve lost two games. As for boys, they weren’t able to make it to the playoffs, but put up a good fight during their season. Their record was two wins and five defeats for the boys baseball team. There has been two games for both of the basketball teams. So far there’s been zero wins and two losses for the girls team. For the boys team they’ve had one win and one loss. During the Fall Fest of 2018, there were things to do such as the dance, go on the yard, or to go to the cafeteria for a movie. The whole Fall Fest lasted a whole hour, and class was much more shorter. Classes lasted 43 minutes, lunch was 35 minutes, and there was a statewide earthquake drill. During the Fall Fest in the cafeteria, they played a movie the movie that was playing was, “Goosebumps”.
Written by Megan. Edited by Kaya. Raoul Wallenberg High School is located 40 Vega Street in San Francisco, CA. It’s school holds 639 students, that’s almost almost the same amount as Francisco, that would make the school a pretty small school. The school has many things that other schools have, but it's just a smaller school. The school has many good arts to choose from if you would like to do any type of art. If your into any sports or want to try any new sports, the school gives 14 different sports. Before, Wallenberg was first an elementary school when it was first built. In 1981, the school became an official high school.
The school could improve on more academic things, or more interesting academics things for students to choose from. Such as in their language program, they only have Mandarin and Spanish; while other schools have Japanese, French, and many more. Maybe those are just improvements that I’ve seen high school may need, and Wallenberg doesn’t have. Overall the school seem like any other high school, especially if you’d like to be in a smaller school, unlike Washington or Galileo. Sonia Sotomayor, she was confirmed as the first Latina to be part of the Supreme Court. She was able to be part of the Supreme Court in 2009, with the help of Barack Obama, the 44th president. Her background is that she was born in America, in New York City; her parents are both Puerto Rican.
An important role that she took part of was if people can’t or can have Obamacare, allowing if people should get affordable healthcare. She also worked on acts such as Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund, and the State of New York Mortgage Agency. These acts helped her become U.S. District Court Judge. It was positive because it helped impact those who couldn’t afford healthcare, or it was helpful to those who may have not had healthcare. She’s also inspiring coming from a bad neighborhood in New York and then coming to a high place in Court. She had also taught law at a University, but that was before her place in Court. |
