All the 8th graders tomorrow (November 8th) will be on a field trip to The Marine Mammal Center. The trip will last from 9:45 to 2:30 except for the early returners who will leave the field trip early and get back to school at around 1:15. The bus rides are about 30 minutes long going from Francisco to TMMC. There are 4 stations for people to be at, they are
Francisco’s yearbook almost every year has 3 pages for pop polls. For those that don't know what pop polls are, they are the polls you’d see saying things like “Most Athletic” or “Most Kind”. Usually pop polls are only for the students, so you would see a page for each grade. This year however, the yearbook staff were thinking for doing pop polls for teachers as it has been requested for some time now. How pop polls work is that students will get a paper from their home room/1st period teacher with different categories. You would fill out the categories with the name of the person you think fits the most, you only put the names of people in your grade. You are only allowed to vote one person for each category (boys and girls) and can only put their name once. Personally I think some of pop polls are a little mean, such as Most Kind which might make some people sad if they’re not chosen for that.
Daylight savings happened last Sunday and we had an extra hour of time and so that means an extra hour of school and anything else you like to do.
This Thursday the whole 8th grade has a field trip to MMC or Marine Mammal Center. We will learn about the animals at the MMC and how they treat them and how they help them back to good health before sending them back to the wild. They will also show us how they track the animals by satellite or by adding tags so they go out on boats and study them. You will also go hiking during lunch or also hangout at the beach and play football for volleyball.
In the yearbooks at almost the end there are pop polls about best smile, most inspiring, and other pop polls. That the students would get to vote for people who thinks that they are the best fit for that category it will be one boy and one girl then they get their pictures taken and put on the yearbook.
Election day is not really a holiday but some people celebrate the anniversary of a presidential term for a president. Election day takes place on the Monday after the first Tuesday of November. When a president is elected, they are given a term of 4 years. In the middle of their term is a midterm election and it takes place on the same time as a normal election. Election day does not happen every year.
Halloween is a holiday where it is believed the dead return to Earth. People usually dress up in costumes and go to people houses and trick or treat and get candy or a toy. The celtics would wear costumes and light big bonfires to ward off the evil spirits.
