Francisco like every middle school has sports teams. There are different kinds of sports from track and etc. There is boy’s baseball and soccer for the boys and for the girls there are sports like soccer, basketball, softball and baseball. For both boys and girls there is track.
Francisco’s sports teams is a good idea to join when you want to play a sport however there are some drawbacks that can be improved like having more practice. Written by John. Edited by Jacky.

The SSC (School Sited Counsel) are financial supporters who talk about school funding.
They also talk about how to conserve the schools money. 12 people are employed there and they are mainly adults but there are 3 students. The SSC is apart of the school and takes place after school from 4 to 5. They just recently talked about Title 1 funding. They happen on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2 weeks a month, and is located in Little Theatre. Written by Roan. Edited by Zachary. You can get applications from Ms. Blanchard or Mr. Kaplan. If you want to get in, Ms. Blanchard said to put Lowell as your first choice because it is such a competitive school that they don’t look at applications unless Lowell is the first choice. The campus type is urban (schools classified as city school by the National Center for Education Statistics). This high school is really big, in 2015-2016, there were 2,685 students. Lowell has an auditorium with 1,500 seats.

There were sports and activities on the upper yard and people just played basketball, volleyball and soccer, while some people just sat around and played on their phones or talked to their friends. There was a dance in the little theater that was hosted by beacon.

They are also predicting that they will play vs the Boston Celtics. They predict that because boston is the only good competition. When I say the only good competition, I mean the only east team that is a competition. I think that it might happen, but you never know that there might be a suprise by another team.

High schools have a lot of pressure on students and to add on to the stress, schools start really early and students have to wake up early in the morning just to get to school on time. In my opinion I think that schools should start later for example they can start at 8:30 am. The students will still have time to get to school but enough hours of school.
High schools should also give less homework but more projects so they have more time to work with other students instead of working alone. If the school gives students a lot of work and the students want to join any clubs or sports they won’t have enough time to finish everything and manage their time. Another thing about high schools are block schedule, I like the concept of it because block schedule means students have more time to do what they need to do in each class, and that means the students have more time to do their work. Also this means students have at least an hour to do big projects in class and not at home like middle schools. Written by Yan Ki. Edited by Christian. During the Fall Fest of 2018, there were things to do such as the dance, go on the yard, or to go to the cafeteria for a movie. The whole Fall Fest lasted a whole hour, and class was much more shorter. Classes lasted 43 minutes, lunch was 35 minutes, and there was a statewide earthquake drill. During the Fall Fest in the cafeteria, they played a movie the movie that was playing was, “Goosebumps”.

I for one liked SOME of the music that they played but not many people could agree with me .And not many people danced to it . i get it we are only teens but that doesn't mean that we don't listen to songs with bad words , i mean there would always be that one song you think it’s “clean’ and decide to play it at the dance but it has ONE bad word and the teacher is changing it.But also understand that many students don't enjoy music with bad words but its not the end of the world if the song only has one curse word in it, IT'S NOT something foreign.Everyone should be allowed to play whatever song they want and not be told to not sing it or to even play it, we should stop playing the “clean version” but that might not happen soon because of the “school rules” .

Lowell High School is one of the top high schools in San Francisco it is ranked 96 in the National Ranking and #11 in California High Schools, also #156 in STEM high schools. This school offers over 36 AP classes. They have schools tours for incoming freshmen and they offer the tour in Chinese, Arabic, English, Filipino, Russian, Spanish, and Vietnamese.
Lowell High School offers 10 sports team for boys and 7 teams for girls. For the boy’s team they have baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, tennis, track and field, volleyball, and wrestling. The girl’s team they have basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball. This high school has over 2,600 students in 2015-2016. People would want to go to this school because this high school is a great preparatory for college and going to this high school is basically like going to college. Each class would have over 500 students. The school has 58.6% female and 41.4% male. I think this school could improve by putting less pressure on their students. They should also start class later because if students get to school at 7:58, the students might be too tired to pay attention which will affect their education. |
